Movie Nights with Ann

Hello, lovelies! Happy Friday! This week is so stressful! So many schoolwork needs to finish! BUT one of the things that ease me out is WATCHING MOVIES! I mostly watch in Netflix.Oh my, I love Netflix. It not only helped me to release some stress, but it also helped me by not staying bored in this pandemic.

Genre: Documentary

The Social Dilemma

The Social Dilemma: Why Is It The Most Important ...
Directed by Jeff Orlowski.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Social Dilemma features the voices of technologists, researchers, and activists working to align technology with the interests of humanity.”

I really love this documentary film. This explains how the algorithm is made, functions, and how can it affect us, users. It also discusses what happens behind, about how every platform earns money, the dark psychology of social networks and more.

I really recommend this documentary. It will change your perception of how to consume social media.

Genre: TV shows/ TV Series

Anne with an E

Anne with an E on Netflix — Not Anne of Green Gables But ...
Created by Moira Walley-Beckett

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Based on a 1908 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne With an E recounts the life of Anne Shirley, a 13-year old orphan. Set in the late nineteenth century, the series follows Anne as she is accidentally adopted by siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who initially wanted to adopt a boy to help them on their lineal farm of Green Gables.”

I love this series! This has my heart! I love that it discusses feminism, womanhood, and of course Shirbert! This is such a wonderful series! It makes you dream, give hope and importance of friendship.

Unfortunately, this series will come to an end because Netflix canceled it (Netflix really loves to cancel shows.) But we are still hoping for another season. *cross fingers*

Genre: Movie/Film

Call Me By Your Name

Call Me by Your Name (film) - Wikipedia
Directed by Luca Guadagnino

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“In 1980s Italy, romance blossoms between a seventeen-year-old student and the older man hired as his father’s research assistant.”

You want to cry? Well, this is a film for you. This film is a *chef’s kiss*. Just Perfection. From the production, cinematography, THE ACTORS! This is a romantic drama of coming-of-age based on the 2007 novel of the same name by André Aciman.

I love it. You’ll love it. Let’s cry together.

Genre: Animated Film

Klaus

Netflix Drops Trailer For First Original Animated Movie ...
Directed by Sergio Pablos, Carlos Martínez López.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.”

This animated film is full of hope. It just centers hope and love. I love that it tells a different story about “Christmas origin”.

Kindness is within us if only we know how to give it to people.

Genre: Period Drama

Emma (2020)

Directed by Autumn de Wilde.

“Jane Austen’s beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending is reimagined in this. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.”

Can we all agree that Autumn de Wilde is one of the best director?! This is the highlight of my 2020. Everything about this movie is a vision, from the clothes, the palette, the scenery and of course the cast!
