Movie Nights with Ann

Hello, lovelies! Happy Friday! This week is so stressful! So many schoolwork needs to finish! BUT one of the things that ease me out is WATCHING MOVIES! I mostly watch in Netflix.Oh my, I love Netflix. It not only helped me to release some stress, but it also helped me by not staying bored in this pandemic.

Genre: Documentary

The Social Dilemma

The Social Dilemma: Why Is It The Most Important ...
Directed by Jeff Orlowski.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The Social Dilemma features the voices of technologists, researchers, and activists working to align technology with the interests of humanity.”

I really love this documentary film. This explains how the algorithm is made, functions, and how can it affect us, users. It also discusses what happens behind, about how every platform earns money, the dark psychology of social networks and more.

I really recommend this documentary. It will change your perception of how to consume social media.

Genre: TV shows/ TV Series

Anne with an E

Anne with an E on Netflix — Not Anne of Green Gables But ...
Created by Moira Walley-Beckett

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“Based on a 1908 novel by Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne With an E recounts the life of Anne Shirley, a 13-year old orphan. Set in the late nineteenth century, the series follows Anne as she is accidentally adopted by siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert, who initially wanted to adopt a boy to help them on their lineal farm of Green Gables.”

I love this series! This has my heart! I love that it discusses feminism, womanhood, and of course Shirbert! This is such a wonderful series! It makes you dream, give hope and importance of friendship.

Unfortunately, this series will come to an end because Netflix canceled it (Netflix really loves to cancel shows.) But we are still hoping for another season. *cross fingers*

Genre: Movie/Film

Call Me By Your Name

Call Me by Your Name (film) - Wikipedia
Directed by Luca Guadagnino

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“In 1980s Italy, romance blossoms between a seventeen-year-old student and the older man hired as his father’s research assistant.”

You want to cry? Well, this is a film for you. This film is a *chef’s kiss*. Just Perfection. From the production, cinematography, THE ACTORS! This is a romantic drama of coming-of-age based on the 2007 novel of the same name by André Aciman.

I love it. You’ll love it. Let’s cry together.

Genre: Animated Film

Netflix Drops Trailer For First Original Animated Movie ...
Directed by Sergio Pablos, Carlos Martínez López.

Rating: 5 out of 5.

“A simple act of kindness always sparks another, even in a frozen, faraway place. When Smeerensburg’s new postman, Jesper, befriends toymaker Klaus, their gifts melt an age-old feud and deliver a sleigh full of holiday traditions.”

This animated film is full of hope. It just centers hope and love. I love that it tells a different story about “Christmas origin”.

Kindness is within us if only we know how to give it to people.

Genre: Period Drama

Emma (2020)

Directed by Autumn de Wilde.

“Jane Austen’s beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending is reimagined in this. Handsome, clever, and rich, Emma Woodhouse is a restless queen bee without rivals in her sleepy little town. In this glittering satire of social class and the pain of growing up, Emma must adventure through misguided matches and romantic missteps to find the love that has been there all along.”

Can we all agree that Autumn de Wilde is one of the best director?! This is the highlight of my 2020. Everything about this movie is a vision, from the clothes, the palette, the scenery and of course the cast!

Journal || Where have I been? Also HAPPY 5 YEARS?! sorta…

Hello, lovelies!!! It’s been more than a month since I last posted! Why? Well, may I inform you that my online class has started and IT IS HARD. HARDER THAN FACE TO FACE CLASSES! I’ve been adjusting lately in this new kind of setup, this new normal as we all say, but geez this is hard, harder than I expected it to be.

So you may wonder why is it so hard? I am in the comfort of my home. Food is here. I don’t need to get up early and endure the 45 minutes just to go to school. Etc., etc. Well, yeah true, but online school is so demanding. True that I don’t need to wake up early but I have to check my mail from time to time. But, I am still lucky to continue my studies despite of this pandemic.

How about you? Do you have online classes too? Let’s talk!

OKAY. HERE IT IS. HAPPY 5 YEARS!!!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 although I haven’t posted much until this past few months. I may not be active but I have followed blogs that had inspired me to write, to live, to love, to read more!!!

To my followers, even just my viewers, I love you guys! 💖 If you think I not noticing you, I see you. I cherish you. I love you. Thank you for being part of this long long journey.

“But the truth is, also, simply this: love is indomitable.”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

This book is incredible. A perfect debut novel for Casey McQuiston. This story follows the story about A big-hearted romantic comedy in which the First Son falls in love with the Prince of Wales after an incident of international proportions forces them to pretend to be best friends.

My heart is so full. I never read a book that consists of so much hope, laugh, and love. There is no page that is boring. I literally laughed, blushed, and fell in love. THIS BOOK IS MADE UP OF SUGAR!

“But the truth is, also, simply this: love is indomitable.”

I WILL DIE FOR THIS SHIP! ALEX IS SO IN LOVE HE COULD DIE! AND SO IS HENRY! Oh my heart is overflowing with love right now. I swooned and sighed many times, even got saddened and stressed when the affliction came. This book is a perfect romantic comedy novel.

Can we appreciate that this book gave us diverse side characters! They all unique! Especially to the Super Six. I am willing to give my life for them. Alex and Henry are so lucky to have friends like them. Also, CLAREMONT-DIAZ fam is such a family goal! Both of Alex’s parents are so accepting and loving. Both of them are so supportive and keeping up their pace. It puts me in awe. I love it when he outed as bisexual and confessed that he’s in a relationship with Henry, the Prince of England, and the only that matters is how is he handling the situation. June and Alex have a strong sibling-relationship! I’m a sucker for them!

I really appreciate that it doesn’t only focus only on personal relations but also on the nations. How their actions can build or destroy each other. It also discusses issues like immigrants, and we should not be ashamed of it, we must celebrate it.

For me, this book is like a Jane Austen novel with a modern twist. What he ran to London just to see him? Yes. Kissed in the garden? Yes. Enemies to friends to lovers? Yes.

I felt such a powerful amount of hope between Alex and Henry. It just screams.

“America: He is my choice.”

I’m melting.

Overall, this book is everything. Certainly one of my favorite books. *chef’s kiss. Well done Casey!

Journal || FLICKER by Niall Horan

October 20, 2017, Flicker by Niall Horan came out. I am happy and devasted at the same time because of two reasons: 1. I don’t have enough money to buy the album, and 2. My father will found out about it and he will scold me for this.

I know you’ll be like, “C’mon! It’s for your happiness! It’s not like you’re buying illegal or something.” or maybe you don’t buy my reasons, but I’m sorry it’s true. BUT NOW, I am happy to announce that I BOUGHT THE ALBUM with the help of my friend. I’m so so so happy! I’ve been longing for this album for three years now, and now that I have the physical copy, I am the happiest fan in the world! Oh my. I am so happy.

I hope I could buy Heartbreak weather soon.

What about you lovelies? Are you a fan of Niall Horan? If not who? Let’s discuss! Leave a comment!

The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho

This book is breathe of fresh air for me. It follows the story about a mysterious woman named Athena or Sherine, told by the many who knew her well—or hardly at all. I’m looking forward to finishing this book because as you read through it, you also find yourself reflecting.
